Film critics believe that Sivakumar has paired with large number of heroines on
silver screen and ranks next to Sivaji Ganesan in this aspect. However, he has
not entangled himself in any rumours with any heroine. He has acted as
lover/husband of heroines like Jayalalitha, Lakshmi, Sujatha, Srividya, SriPriya,
Sumithra, Shoba, Radha, Ambika, Jayashree, Rathi Agnihotri, Radhika, Saritha,
Deepa, Jayabarathi, Suhasini, Sulakshana, Nalini, Poornima Jeyaram, K. R. Vijaya,
etc.
His great performance in "Marupakkam" got him nominated for Best Actor at
National level but the award finally went to Amitabh. Generally he has never
acted without moustache except in Devotional/religious films; but one exception
is "Poovum Puyalum" in which he has acted as a doctor without moustache.
The only film he acted in a villainish role was Bhuvana Oru Kaelvikkuri; film
critics felt that it was ironical because Rajnikanth who used to act as villain
in his early days played the hero role in this movie. In an interview for a
popular Tamil weekly-magazine, the Actor has said that "performing yoga, doing
regular exercises, being a tee-totaller and having Oil-bath during weekends has
helped him to maintain youthful personality".
At one point of time he became popular and impeccable in acting as a person with
two lovers and wives. Films like Sindhu Bhairavi, Karpoora Deepam, Kanmaniyae
Paesu, Marupakkam etc are noteworthy in this aspect. Films like "Mudhal
Mariyadhai" and "Chinna Veedu" which dwelt on similar theme were released in the
same time. He received the life time award for Cinema. |
