Ajithkumar: Ajith, a
school dropout is presently the leading young actor in the Tamil
film industry. He started his film career through the movie 'Prema
Pusthagam' (telugu) in 1993 produced by Poorna Chandra Rao. The
film was a success which gained him a film career in Tamil. With
the release of his first film in tamil 'Amaravathi' directed by
Selva he got involved in a motor bike accident. His spinal cord
was affected.
Soon after the recovery his movie Pavithra comes on screen which
was followed by flop films. The Tamil film industry wrote him
off but then came a super hit movie 'Aasai', which proved a
turning point in his film career.
His mega hit was Kaathal Kottai which was directed by Agathiyan
but he was too immature to handle the success which resulted in
a string of flops. Then came 'Valee' which was a mega hit, that
overnight success made Ajith a superstar. Valee was followed by
'Amarkalam' where he was paired for the first time with Shalini.
The movie was not only hit but he fell in love with its heroine
Shalini. The two got married after a breezy romance.
He has about 40 films to his credit. With his hits films like
Aasai, Kaathal Kottai, Ullasam, Rasi, Aval varuvala, Vaalie ,
Amarkalam, Mugavaree, Kandukonden Kandukonden, dhenna, citizen
etc. raking in the big bucks, Ajith is on most wanted lists. He
also acted in a hindi film Ashoka with Sharukh Khan.
